In honor of the great American holiday of Thanksgiving, I decided to imbibe in some of the big sales many merchants offer this weekend. One of the first I saw and purchased was at the online version of BestBuy.com
(Standard Disclaimer - I don't have any financial interest in that company -- just reporting as a customer.)
They are having a 3-day sale (until Saturday, November 27th) on a USB microphone bundled with a streamlined version of ProTools recording software for $50 usd. Mic is a Avid / M-audio large diaphragm condenser with a built in headphone jack to monitor yourself with minimal latency/delay. The software is limited to only four tracks, but also includes a big library of ready made music samples (called "l

" but this bulletin board software wants to replace that word with an emoticon) and instrument sounds. Software works on Mac OSX and Windows XP or 7, but apparently not on Windows Vista. This link may not work, but try:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Avid+-+M...nts&cp=1&lp=22 Normal retail is about $100, although avid shoppers (pun intended) may find other deals available.
Also ordered some Koss headphones with a single cord (yeah!) for $10 instead of the mspr or $30, and a 1 terrabyte hard drive for $60, also from BestBuy and all with free shipping.
Won't know if I like them until they arrive in a week or two, but am always interested in gear stories.
