I have learned (the first year) a little bit about operating Adobe Audition 3. However, if anything could go wrong with this production, it did,,, right up to the fact that my mixer, when we were two tweaks away from final draft, passed away. And, now, my external hard drive with all his work on it, is at his place waiting for .... well that's that. In the meantime I have recorded two other shows and now find that I'm going to have to mix them, on my limited knowledge on an Audition 3 program that shouldn't be in a computer with only 2g of memory. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to, occasionally, answer a few questions for me when I'm working on the shows? I'm getting the tutorial but frankly, sometime when I read the tech stuff my brain seizes up worse than an ice cream headache. Isn't that called a cellphone? I don't work in audition, but I am happy to make suggestions and help try and find similar functions from the program (Audacity) that I work in. Actualy, I was just about to try the free trial version of Audition, so i might actually be helpful at some point. I find a lot of stuff just takes finding - once you know what you're looking for, that's half the battle. But ask someone who's already an expert, if you have any options at all. When I'm good, I'm very good, but when I'm lost - don't go following me!!! __________________ --Julie Hoverson 19 Nocturne Boulevard ...and the Deadeye Kid ......and Fatal Girl .........and Tone Didactic ............and Bingo the Birthday Clown | | | 07-14-2010 | #3 | | Barbarian in need of Ale Bill Hollweg is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Texas Posts: 10,994 | I uase audacity for about 60% of what I do, and Goldwave for another 30%, and adobe audition 1.5 for the final 10% <room reverb- some vocal sfx- and other cool filters> would HIGHLY reccommend getting a bigger computer unless you were refering to 2G ram | | | 07-14-2010 | #4 | | Barbarian in need of Ale Bill Hollweg is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Texas Posts: 10,994 | And just because it's adobe audition-doesn't mean it will sound good. It's the art in your mind and heart that will make your works sing- no matter the software. | | | 07-14-2010 | #5 | | Sebastian T Sweet Prodco Sable is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 105 | 2g ram.... sorry | | | 07-14-2010 | #6 | | Sebastian T Sweet Prodco Sable is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 105 | my mixer wanted at least 4g so am now looking to have to buy a new computer | | | 07-14-2010 | #7 | | Sebastian T Sweet Prodco Sable is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 105 | | Quote: | | | | | And just because it's adobe audition-doesn't mean it will sound good. That's what I'm somewhat familiar with so I very much would like to stay with the familiar and learn what I'm doing before striking out with trying different programs. I'm kinda swimming in a pool of question marks here with the one person who could anwser just about any question gone. | | | 07-14-2010 | #8 | | Barbarian in need of Ale Bill Hollweg is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Texas Posts: 10,994 | Audacity is simple to use but I understand- I started with audacity- then learned some bits in goldwave then learned some bits in Audition I have 2g ram- it can be done-LOL I also have a 200g HD and a 1T ext HD for space | | | 07-14-2010 | #9 | | Barbarian in need of Ale Bill Hollweg is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Texas Posts: 10,994 | Though using what is comfortable- is the only way to fly ;-) | | | | | | 07-15-2010 | #10 | | Sebastian T Sweet Prodco Sable is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 105 | | Quote: | | | | | Audacity is simple to use but I understand- I started with audacity- then learned some bits in goldwave then learned some bits in Audition I have 2g ram- it can be done-LOL I also have a 200g HD and a 1T ext HD for space | | | | | I have two external HD, I think 160g, but am not sure. The first one developed a glitch in it and I lost about 16 hours work. I bitched like crazy and the company sent me another one. Unfortunately the second one is the one that has the Amber Room on it and it is at the house of my late mixer. His brother is looking for it but... In the meantime I did find a copy of The Amber Room that Bob had sent me through Sendspace. But it's in mp3 so I don't know if I can import that into Audition. It's on the agenda for the weekend. I've been working okay with the 2g ram, but Bob really wanted me to get more, for comfort's sake is anything. In the meantime, I'll just keep slogging along and hope for the best. I'd done most of the last two episodes of Amber Room by myself, except for equalizing and stuff like that. It's not hard to build sound effects and add ambience, etc. but it's all the statis reduction and equalizing that has me flummoxed a bit. Like my dad used to say "I'm a construction man, I build buildings. I don't work on cars. for that I go to the shop." Well, I'm a writer. I write scripts, if I want them acted and mixed I take them to the pros. sj sigh. sj | | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | All times are GMT -5.
