The Beefsteak Botheration Fun in the sun as we play "what might have been" with a favorite episode of Black Jack Justice, this time featuring the dream team of Freddie the Finger and the Flying Squirrel.... Yes folks, its Peter Nicol as Jack and Clarissa Dernederlanden as Trixie Dixon, girl detective, so buckle up! More... | | | 07-01-2010 | #2 | | Waiting for BJJ and TRP. pbsbelle is offline Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: West Memphis, Arkansas Posts: 389 | I've said that to my ears Andrea as Trixie collects shoes and JC as Trixie collects hats. Clarissa, to my ears, collects the broken hearts of men and could easily slip into the role of crazed murderess if slightly pushed. It's been very interesting hearing what different actors bring to all the roles. Peter, whether playing a good guy or villian, is always charming. Peter, the charming and huggable. Someday we'll have to make him up a t-shirt. | | | 07-01-2010 | #3 | | Audiofile Undrave is offline Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Quebec, Canada Posts: 1,303 | I could swear the girl in the original was Anna Benson, not Helen Jack seems somewhat less tough, and more devious, less muscle and more tricky. Andrea and Peter sounded somewhat...far from the microphone at time. Andrea sounds as alluring as always | | | 07-02-2010 | #4 | | Audiofile stephensmat is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 341 | I heard the New Trixie and opening the show, and I missed the door I was walking through. Probably the closest we'll ever come to hearing regular Trixie and regular Freddie saying nice things to each other. Much fun, highly enjoyed, but I agree with Gregg: Chris's little aria on the wonders of steak is untwinnable; as if any time Gregg sneers out the phrase 'little more money'. No offense to the 'play it again casting', it's just their roles. | | | 07-02-2010 | #5 | | Woof... Solid Granite is offline Join Date: Feb 2009 Posts: 362 | An excellent episode! I'm NOT a fan of the whole Play It Again thing, but this one really hit the mark. Everyone did a really fine job, and moreover, they were actually "believable" in their roles! Here's hoping the rest of the summer shows are on a par with this one! __________________ "Caution! These comments are based on my honest opinions, and could cause apoplexy in others. But I can't see Peter's jack holding a coffee cup (yet), a must for the character. And I don't think he would have gotten the girl in Journeys End. Clarissa's Trixie: | Quote: | | | | | Clarissa, to my ears, collects the broken hearts of men and could easily slip into the role of crazed murderess if slightly pushed. | | | | | I had this in my mind when hearing her (small flash episode of a webcomic, only read the rest if you plan to leave your sanity at the door). Again, fancy but losing her sweet side could change many episode with Trixie. Remember the poor fellow at the bridge in Much Ado About Norman? She might have cared a little less. Or even Norman while we talk about this episode. The Stopped Clock's ending? Someone getting punched. Clarissa's Trixie Good side? I would have loved hearing her seducing a poor unlucky man. That serious girl dress with the easy to pop top button when leaning forward just right? Oh la la! My first Play It Again conclusion: Different voices changes how we see the characters. Would Gregg have written our heroes differently in the long run with different main actors? | | | | 07-03-2010 | #7 | | Agent Ninety-Three-One WorldsAway is offline Join Date: Feb 2010 Posts: 318 | | Quote: | | | | | I could swear the girl in the original was Anna Benson, not Helen | | | | | She was. Gregg, why the change? That aside, however, when I started listening, my brother (who has listened to RP but not BJJ, so I didn't let him use my iPod for this episode) was watching me as I squeed for the announcement of the 'new Trixie'. It was great, and I agree that Clarissa played a much meaner Trixie than Andrea, but maybe that was just the episode. After all, this one does not exactly include any of Trixie's good side. to everyone involved in making this one. __________________ Yes, I am doing NaNoWriMo this year! Would Gregg have written our heroes differently in the long run with different main actors? | | | | | Yes! The first 12 of each were written absent any actors, except I was pretty sure I was going to play the Red Panda and I did write Kit for Clarissa (we had just started dating. Guess what? It worked), but I had no idea what she would bring to the role until after 1-12 were written. I made no decisions on Jack or Trixie for some months after. But by the time I sat down to write Hand of Fate, we had recorded our first season, and I was writing Jack as played by Chris, Trixie by Andrea and had a pretty good idea of where we were going with our roles in RPA. The longer the runs go on, the more they become shaped for the actors, and that goes for the more outstanding supporting roles as well. Yeah, I forgot the Helen/Anna thing. I went back to the original scripts for these, and in that script it was Helen, but I think we changed it because we had just done a script with a Helen in it, I don't really remember which one it was. Anybody? | | | | 07-05-2010 | #9 | | Woof... Solid Granite is offline Join Date: Feb 2009 Posts: 362 | | Quote: | | | | | Yeah, I forgot the Helen/Anna thing. | | | | | In my (original) episode, its ANNA BENSON...but I may have a pirated edition from Hong Kong. __________________ "Caution! And it was Helen Kale in "The Trouble With Doubles," two episodes prior. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | All times are GMT -5.
