Hi all, So, in an effort to give myself a little more creative wiggling room, I've created a new personal homepage/blog at http://robynpaterson.com where I can plan my domination of the various arts. It updates my old writing blog (which got underused because of it's limited focus) into a single new site where I plan to put anything and everything. If you have the chance, drop by an take a look. I was looking at your post about, "There are some things that are just pretty much impossible to do in Audio Drama." With today's positional audio tools you could probably pull it off easier than you think. But, I think we agree here, you probably won't get a return on your investment if you try to draw it out too far. You or others might find this VST plug-in, 3D panner, helpful http://www.mildonstudios.com/m2/page8.aspx | | | 01-18-2010 | #3 | | 1-Woman Butt-Kicking Army JulieH is offline Join Date: May 2008 Posts: 3,497 | Does that work in Audacity? __________________ --Julie Hoverson 19 Nocturne Boulevard ...and the Deadeye Kid ......and Fatal Girl .........and Tone Didactic ............and Bingo the Birthday Clown | | | 01-19-2010 | #4 | | Mix, Make Audio, VA brianb is offline Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Illinois Posts: 118 | I don't use Audacity, but with the VST Enabler it should work fine. I'll grab a copy and test it for ya :-) | | | 01-19-2010 | #5 | | Mix, Make Audio, VA brianb is offline Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Illinois Posts: 118 | Yep, it seems to work just great! I tested with the 1.3.11 Beta of Audacity. If you don't have it already grab the VST enabler from: http://audacityteam.org/vst/ Install that and pop in the plug-in from Mildon, load up Audacity. It should scan for and find the new plug-in. Once you are in Audacity it's there under Effect. | | | 01-19-2010 | #6 | | Kung Fu Action Producer UltraRob is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: London, Ontario, Canada Posts: 837 | Thanks Brianb! That could be very useful for my upcoming Little Gou kung-fu battles! That said, I still think a Parkour run would be extremely hard to do well in Audio Drama. Too much of that kind of action comes from the character interacting with the scenery in advanced and usual ways, and that would be lost if you tried to do it in AD, even with narration. I have heard extended combat sequences done well, and car chases, so I know it's possible to do them, but it's damn hard, and as you say, might not be worth the trouble to do. Then again, knowing myself, I'll probably still try it at some point, just for fun! The add left and invert right. Or vice versa and viola -- 3d sound. In the plug-in you move the lines on the grid and where they meet is where the sound should be coming from. ~ | | | 01-19-2010 | #10 | | Mix, Make Audio, VA brianb is offline Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Illinois Posts: 118 | | Quote: | | | | | Then again, knowing myself, I'll probably still try it at some point, just for fun! | | | | | You can do it!! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | All times are GMT -5.
