How do you prefer to receive lines from your cast? I mean those actors that are not present. Do you prefer one file per line? All lines in one file? How many takes is preferred? What is it that you guys like to do with those lines? __________________ Jack Hosley Program Manager Wander Radio http://wanderradio.com 109.9 Almost on your radio dial. | | | 12-01-2009 | #2 | | 1-Woman Butt-Kicking Army JulieH is offline Join Date: May 2008 Posts: 3,498 | My preferences: Small parts: All lines in one file, three takes each, seperated by about five seconds (between lines, not between takes on the same line) Parts with more than one scene - one file per scene. I prefer mono, rather than stereo, since all I do the minute I get it is turn it into mono anyway. I prefer to do noise removal myself. I'm curious to see what everyone else says too - good topic!!!! __________________ --Julie Hoverson 19 Nocturne Boulevard ...and the Deadeye Kid ......and Fatal Girl .........and Tone Didactic ............and Bingo the Birthday Clown | | | 12-01-2009 | #3 | | Audiofile WNDRWolf is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Oklahoma Posts: 542 | Thanks Julie. __________________ Jack Hosley Program Manager Wander Radio http://wanderradio.com 109.9 Almost on your radio dial. | | | 12-01-2009 | #4 | | Barbarian in need of Ale Bill Hollweg is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Texas Posts: 11,004 | Mine is everything for a specific character in one file. That way I can clean it all up and break it up as I need to once the mixing begins- but it's really a personal preferance. Some like every line to be seperate which would give me nightmares-LOL | | | 12-01-2009 | #5 | | Kung Fu Action Producer UltraRob is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: London, Ontario, Canada Posts: 837 | I have every line in the production numbered and have the actor submit a separate file for each line with the file name the number of the line and the character name. I also have the actors do 3 takes for each line. When mixing I just grab all the relevant lines (say 32-64) from the various character directories for that episode and then proceed to clean them and do what needs to be done. I find this system makes assembly really easy since Adobe Audition just lines up all the lines in a scene in order for me and I slip them into the mixing window. I think it's a right-brain left-brain thing. Some folks are organized and others just let the magic pixies do all the work.... __________________ --Julie Hoverson 19 Nocturne Boulevard ...and the Deadeye Kid ......and Fatal Girl .........and Tone Didactic ............and Bingo the Birthday Clown | | | 12-01-2009 | #9 | | Raconteur JabberBjorn is offline Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Washington, DC area Posts: 56 | For me personally mixing I've found it easier to have all the lines in one file. That is to say, all of one character's lines in one file. If someone is doing two characters, I'd like two files. Interestingly, when I do voiceovers for ducats, three takes is usually the magic number. The first is what you think they want, the second is something a bit more on the wild side, and the third is understated. I might do an additional take or two if they've asked to _also_ hear a character voice or accent. Short answer: in this context, I think three takes is fine. (though change it up or recast if you're not getting the reads you need!) | | | 12-02-2009 | #10 | | Barbarian in need of Ale Bill Hollweg is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Texas Posts: 11,004 | | Quote: | | | | | For me personally mixing I've found it easier to have all the lines in one file.
