Default Night At The Ballet: Le Corsaire is Released

Listen Here: http://imaginationlane.net/ballet/archives/10

Adapted from the ballet by Alexa Chipman

The ballet originally premiered 23 January 1856, in Paris. It was inspired by Lord Byron’s poem and made famous by the staging of Marius Petipa. There are many different versions of the ballet, and even the score has evolved through the years. The most famous dance of the ballet is the Pas de deux between Medora, Conrad and the Slave which was altered to be simply Medora and the Slave. This particular audio version of the story was heavily influenced by American Ballet Theatre’s production of Le Corsaire.

Featuring the voice talent of:
Captain Conrad - Carl Cubbedge
Medora - Elaine Barrett
Birbanto - Nick Pendleton
Slave - Lee Labit
Isaac the Slaver - Stevie K. Farnaby
Pasha - Capt. John Tadrzak
Gulnare - Katie Dehnart
Pirates, Shopkeepers, Citizens - Lee Labit, Scott M. Sandridge, Gwendolyn Jensen-Woodard, Anthony Rooney

Sound Effects: Alexa Chipman, Stevie K. Farnaby, Bill Hollweg

Nicely done, we can always use more pirates

Also, it's a story I would never get into if it remained in ballet only.

That's the point of the series-- showcase some fun stories that people wouldn't see if it were only in tutus and tights!

(Actually the dancing in this particular one is spectacular, I'd recommend watching this excerpt

The shirtless chap is the Slave, the one in white is Conrad, the ballerina is Medora.
