I'm working on getting the right equipment to record the MP3's for auditions and such. I have the software but am curious as to which relatively inexpensive microphone you all would recommend?
I'm a big fan of the Snowball mic from Blue. It's a USB mic so it can be used with any computer set-up quickly and easily, and it has a decent quality. You can typically get it anywhere from $80-$100.
The Podcast Factory is one step removed from a straight USB - it has a standard mike that plugs into a little unit that makes the sound work for the computer.
If you go through Amazon.com you can find some good deals on them. I suggest a USB mic since it's plug and use friendly. If you go with a straight studio mic... then you have to set up a pre-amp and so on to hook into your computer.
