The thing about the characters in this series is that you know them all. They’re all individual; they’re all of them recognizable. When you watch/Read/Listen to a series, where somebody does something and you say “That sounds exactly like Vaela to me.” You know you’ve got it right.

I like the ensemble feel to this. Each character has a skill, each has an opposite number. Most especially, and in particular: Ping-An, and Tysen.

Strategy is a hard thing to demonstrate in space battles (I’m lookin’ at you Star Trek) but given the nature of the two Commanders, you need to be able to do it well here. And you do.

But I am waiting for the two of them to be put into a room together. They haven’t actually had a chance to size each other up since their little Chess Game about a hundred years ago, and even then, they didn’t speak to each other.

That little moment also set up their characters as being expert strategists, and in the subsequent episodes, they’ve had the chance to prove it.

But the thing is, we’ve got a feel for these characters; that we care about both sides. Given that there’s so much intrigue, and so many agendas on both sides of the street, it’s hard to tell exactly who the good guys are.

With that in mind, we don’t particularly want to see either of them lose, per-se.

But if the fate of the Galaxy gets decided here, and neither side is particularly shy about shooting… sooner or later a Cast member is gonna be surplus.

I thought it was Bella, but so much for that one. Maybe Liederman, but he’s too fun. Ash I can believe. Suffice to say, there are downsides to being the willing follower of a guy willing to shoot, willing to kill, and willing to double-cross. Ash has been reading Veers’ every move and took her cue from that in this episode.

Ping-An just pulled quite a coup. 10% of the Imperials? You can do some serious damage with that. More if you can pull the other clans in line, but that’s a different kind of strategy. Ping-An’s financier is better at that.

But it cost them. Ping-An lost crew, Tysen lost ships. Call it karma. Tysen lost a fair bit from his life for this pirate lady. Between her new shiny ship and her superiors, Pin-An’s been leading a charmed life.

Interestingly enough, Ping-An’s now flying away in an Imperial craft, and Tysen in a Pirate Ship. Could make for some interesting theater.

Tysen said it’s a month before things cool. A lot can happen in a month. Should make for interesting listening.

Rob, I've recently starting listening to this (last week in fact) and am now up to date.

Enjoying it very much, I like the idea of seeing the two very different sides as they head towards their destiny.

The cast are doing a great job as are you with the writing. A special shout out though to FF for the fantastic Lady Whitcombe voice.

Thanks Hudson! I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Fiona's Lady Whitcombe has never ceased to amaze me as I produce this, but then again most of the cast have really given this project their best and I'm deeply indebted to them all.

Twin Stars is now on hiatus until May, but is planned to run several more seasons. It takes a while to build up to where this story is going!

Thanks again for your kind words,
Rob
