Hi, miss 19 Nocturne Blvd! Hello web community. Ok, it goes down like this: I've had the opportunity to record several of Ms. 19 Nocturne Blvd's scripts, and they're excellent. Not, "gosh, I liked 'em they were a good time." No, she's more, "oh, so that's what it takes to have a career writing serials." You know, that versatility and craft of storyline, dialogue pacing, just the right melodrama in just the right places... all wrapped up in a person who can do it on the spot, in any genre, with a two-week deadline. I like meeting people who are a reminder of why "talent" can be such a cheap word. We often use it to excuse ourselves the monumental task of training the same level of proficiency. Relentless hours of practice. At the risk of putting words in her mouth, I think Julie is a person who has identified the skills necessary to become a professional dramatist (in the most inclusive sense), and has set about mastering them. For me, sincere dedication to craft is one of the things that gives meaning to art, so I find it hard to speak more highly of Julie. I really hope everyone listens to her work. One week from today (I should find out the exact time... or is that WAY too overkill?), the first episode fo 19 Nocturne Boulevard goes up. Yes, I am fighting to contain my joy - JOY I tell you!!! Darn, it's hard to be patient. And - for anyone who has actually read down to here and wants to hear a sample of the show, I have the promo on the website, and will be posting a "taste" of the first episode there, shortly. So, yeah, I actually am announcing something, and don't have to feel like a silly enthusiastic fangirl... So there. __________________ --Julie Hoverson 19 Nocturne Boulevard ...and the Deadeye Kid ......and Fatal Girl .........and Tone Didactic ............and Bingo the Birthday Clown Last edited by JulieH; 09-24-2008 at 10:41 AM.. | | | 09-24-2008 | #4 | | Barbarian in need of Ale Bill Hollweg is offline Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Texas Posts: 10,995 | | Quote: | | | | | One week from today (I should find out the exact time... or is that WAY too overkill?), the first episode fo 19 Nocturne Boulevard goes up. It's not meant to do anything but intrigue listeners and make them wonder "what the heck was that - maybe I should hear the whole show!" Here's hoping it works! __________________ --Julie Hoverson 19 Nocturne Boulevard ...and the Deadeye Kid ......and Fatal Girl .........and Tone Didactic ............and Bingo the Birthday Clown | | | | And..... we are a GO!!! | | 10-01-2008 | #6 | | 1-Woman Butt-Kicking Army JulieH is offline Join Date: May 2008 Posts: 3,487 | And..... we are a GO!!! The script is very smart and the production as a whole has a lot of the fun energy found in the Lovecraftian Soap Opera production that seems to be a related project. It's the kind of show where the writing is really showcased rather than sound effects, which is great because the writing is excellent. Can't wait to hear more of these! | | | | Yay! | | 10-23-2008 | #10 | | 1-Woman Butt-Kicking Army JulieH is offline Join Date: May 2008 Posts: 3,487 | Yay! Thank you! The Unspeakable and Inhuman (the soap opera) is seperate but connected - I'm in their show; they let me use their studio once in a while;and my show will be podcast through their site, once Halloween is over and Brokensea, who kindly hosted "my debut" (so to speak) goes back to "normal" whew! That being said, I am so happy you liked Canterville! Despitre some obvious major adjustments for audio, I really tried to stay with the "spirit" (so to speak) of the story on that one, since so many adaptations have gone in a completely wrong direction. So many adaptors turn it into "smart, savvy Americans defeat silly old British ghost" when Wilde's original story was "Americans are too dumb and lacking in respect for tradition to even be scared by a ghost with a long and successful history!" [You have to remember this was written well over a hundred years ago, and not by an American.] 8) I think my actors did a great job of taking on the parts of "ugly Americans", particularly since all the "live" folks are played by the Nova high school drama class. 8) Enough raving! You made my day, Mazirian! __________________ --Julie Hoverson 19 Nocturne Boulevard ...and the Deadeye Kid ......and Fatal Girl .........and Tone Didactic ............and Bingo the Birthday Clown | | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | All times are GMT -5.
