Default Audio Drama Scripts online

I'm giving some general advice on writing for audio (yeah, I know, the blind leading the blind! ) and I thought it would be good if new-comers could see a genuine script as they listen to the Audio Drama, to experience how the writer uses the script to tell the VA what he wants and, perhaps more importantly, to show up VA's extemporisation and post-production changes.

Could some kind author/director put a final script of one of their current productions online for discussion purposes? The original request was about a Star Trek audio drama, but it doesn't need to be Trek, it could even be >shudder< Star Wars!

Cheers

K

Sure I could send one of my scripts just let me know where. I know people use very different formats on various shows, I just found one I happen to like.

Thanks, Alexa! I was thinking of putting it on the Scribd network so that I could post a link to it on the forum thread - like this one - If you don't want your script to be seen by the whole Scribd network, I could mark it private that way only those who know the URL from the forum thread would visit it.

I'd like it to be a resource for others who might have the same questions. James de Barry sounds interesting to me but that's because I have an interest in the time period ... perhaps HMS Lydia?

Thanks again

The BBC wesite has a page called The Writer's Room where the post scripts from various show, including from radio shows.

At one time they had a Doctor Who script up there, but it looks like it's not there currently.

EDIT: No, I remember, the Doctor Who script was a TV one. There's still plenty of radio examples on the page, though. Hope they're of some use to you.

Yeah, I knew about them from the thread, "Places to Find Articles on How to Write Audio Drama" but the problem is that, although they have the scripts, you can't access the radioplays themselves ... or can you?

I'd like something I can refer to like, "see how the author uses atmospheric music to establish the tension in this scene" and then show how the music is (or is not) referred to in the script.

Does anyone else stipulate music & sound effects in their scripts? I picked the idea up from the Tony Palermo MS Word template that I used in my first scripts before I switched to Celtx.

Thanks anyway

It is Philip, not James de Barry lol but certainly I can put it up. I might go through and tweak it first though and maybe link to a pdf rather than the .doc version of it. Which would you prefer?

Oops! I was thinking of his younger brother who was standing behind him! HMS Lydia has more of a sci fi basis so it'll probably be more 'compatable' for new-starters on Trekunited.

Cheers

The Soul Rift Episode 01 script PDF (written in Final Draft and formatted like a screenplay / teleplay) is available on Echo Fiction. I think it's also part of Buried in Falling Sand's download, too. If not, I could post that.

I managed to dig it up.

This was my first audio script and I learned a lot by taking words on a page and making them a reality. Enjoy.

There is no James in Sir Philip, not even in the actors list I don't think lol

But here is the script: http://silivren.net/philipdebarrypart1.pdf
