I'm so new I'm still wet behind the ears. However, I've been listening to a few of you guys' audio dramas and felt inspired. Rather than bother a lot of people for my audio-noir drama, I improvised.

In my first audio-noir - Dead Men Don't Travel -at DinoSoarPix I tried something I haven't heard - nor have I ever done - before: text-to-speech.

I don't know how well it sounds or if it works, but it was a grand experiment.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

You shouldn't use computer generated voices, it doesn't sound good at all. I didn't listend to the whole thing, because I can't stand the voices. Keep trying though! If you need voice actors go to: Voice Acting Alliance Board

People there are willing to do voice acting for free!

Cheers,

Wes

I was intrigued by your "type it~read it" concept of audio playwriting, so I thought I'd check it out. I found it interesting. There were enough variations in voicing to make the conversations understandable, tho the clipped method of pronunciation of artificial voicing made understanding the text a bit of a challenge occasionally. The plot was simple yet moved the action along well enough. The effects were interesting, in that the mechanical nature of the speech stood out against the natural sounding fxs... too bad there aren't mechanical sound effects that could equate to the voicing effect, just to "smooth" the total effect on the listener's ear. All in all, an interesting concept and worth investigation. Thanks for the intriguing effort~

Well, yes, I know computer-generated voices aren't the best; this was a grand experiment. On the other hand, some very expensive text-to-speech programs sound pretty good.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.
