Even if Gus comes back, he won't be intact. If he comes back alive, he's gonna be smart enough to cash in his chips. It don't get much closer than this, and he was eyeing retirement before the war even started. And with Kit suddenly a mom, possibly a single mom, and only one butler to confide in, she might take the opportunity to sit down too. A kid may be the only thing that would motivate her enough to give up a death-defying life.
