I'm with Bill on this one. I despise i-Tunes too. To be fair, I don't produce audio and if I did I would suck it up and offer my stuff on i-Tunes because it's a popular platform. It also makes music and audio zombies of its users. They can't download anything anywhere else. If they can't go through i-Tunes they're lost. Gee, I wonder if I'm going to get that new career in Marketing at Apple ?

This is very interesting stuff. I think I'll make a list of possible promotional "tasks" that could be done (probably starting with iTunes). They may not all get accomplished in order -- nor even at all, some of them -- but it seems clear that a considered approach is better than no approach at all. I mean, at this stage, almost anything I do on the promotions end would be an improvement.

My stuff is on I-Tunes, but I do it because I know that's how some people download. I like to think it's available for any podcatcher, and of course, you can always download my stuff at the site. I did find out though, that my podcasts (ok, audio dramas) didn't end up ON my I-Pod...

That's a generalisation. I routinely download plays from the 19NB stream and fold it into iTunes; also releases from Big Finish Productions, and AudioGo.

The only thing I won't touch is the DRM-happy Audible.

I sincerely hope the zombie thing is a generalization. I hate DRM too. As long as I buy the product you don't get to tell me what I can do with it afterwards.
BTW..Big Finish Rocks !

It seems to me that if a lot of people are using iTunes to grab content, then my own feelings about it are immaterial: it's where a lot of the listeners apparently are, but my show isn't there. That means those people will never have the chance to hear it, unless something changes. Expecting them to change just for me is unrealistic, so I will have to be the one to go after them. This is assuming I want them at all -- which I guess I do, if I can manage the process without an undue amount of hassle.
