I remember hearing that Episode 8 was produced in response to a claim from a television producer that the program's ratings were a fluke, and there wasn't anything that
Journey Into Space could do that wouldn't work equally well, or better on TV.
So the 90% of the episode took place in total darkness.
The hatches are closed, and a few minutes into the show - the ship loses power completely - all they have is a single light they must ration for the next half hour.
There's a CD out there somewhere that I listened to a while ago. Great stuff.
