Hey Folks,
It is my pleasure to officially announce that Misfits Audio will be joining
Dream Realm Enterprises in a co-production called Doctor Who: Tales of a Time
Lord! It features Jeff Niles as the Doctor! He will be joined initially by three
companions aboard the TARDIS.
This series will be not unlike the Doctor Who you know, leaning more towards the
classic version of the series, rather than the more modern update. Jeff's Doctor
will be a mixture of both old and new personalities, often being as hard to get
along with as 1st Doctor William Hartnell, as cosmically loopy as 2nd Doctor
Patrick Troughton, and as unpredictable as they come!
The series will not be the slow paced dinosaur some of you may imagine when
thinking back to old school Doctor Who, but instead will be fast-paced, funny,
and adventurous! The stories will be fun and exciting, the characters deep and
well thought out, and the series will take you to places the TV Series couldn't
even begin to travel! So, won't you join us in the months ahead as we journey
into that mysterious blue box, and into the wild blue yonder?
Expect these new science fiction adventures to premiere soon! More details as
they become available!
Of course, we will need to begin casting for this series, and you can expect an
audition casting call in no time at all. Watch this space!
Cheers!
Jon

I'm happy to announce the first ever casting call for Misfits Audio's co-production with Dream Realm Enterprises -- Doctor Who: Tales of a Time Lord series.
The Doctor in this series is played by Jeff Niles, who you will know from such series as Robotz of the Company (Zim Tron, Dr Filbot, etc.), The Misadventures of Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock Holmes), and various other productions from DRE and the 4077th!
His Doctor will be joined by three companions (Eye, Mena and Max), who we are attempting to cast, as you will see below. We also have a number of other roles to fill for our opening story which is titled "The Planet of Doom", which was written by yours truly, Jonithan Patrick Russell, and runs for three episodes.
You will find info on the various characters we need, as well as some sample dialogue for you to record for your audition. There are both male and female roles available. We will start with the female roles, so read on...!
Deadline for Submissions: We need these sent in by no later than midnight EST on March 1st of 2012! Be there or be square!
NOTE: This is a non-paying gig! We're poor and the BBC would send us to the dungeons for making money on their property. This is made out of love and respect for Doctor Who and merely as an homage to the show, and for no other reason.
Send all audition submissions to myself... Jonithan Patrick Russell (or simply Jon) at my personal email address:
darkbuilding1@yahoo.com with the subject header: "Dr Who Audition".
Thanks, and good luck to everyone!

Female Roles Available:
Captain Petra is the leader of the Feron Attack Force. She is a cold, calculating military leader. She does not suffer fools. She has no soft side, she is ruthless and determined. Petra is also very untrusting, suspicious of everyone, particularly the Doctor. Perhaps it's simply because he's a man, because men don't figure highly in her world view.
PETRA: Return fire! Hit them with everything we’ve got!
PETRA: I want whatever is inside that box, Mena. If the Graak are interested in it, then WE must have it! You will take a patrol detachment, and collect whatever you find.
PETRA: You would mutiny against ME?! I requested you as my 1st officer on this ship, and on this mission, Mena. I believed in you when no one else would! You owe me your career!
Mena - A soldier/science officer of the Feron Race. The Ferons are cat-like humanoids at war with the hideously ugly Graak. Mena is dedicated, but alone. She is not as battle-ready as her commanding officer, or fellow Ferons, often showing a more sensitive and thoughtful side, nor is she as ruthless as her comrades. She sees great wisdom in the Doctor and his friends and feels they are honest and genuinely there to help her and her kind.
MENA: The Graak <sounds like "rock"> Ship has taken heavy damage! But so have we, Captain! Our shields are down by 70 percent!
MENA: It's called the Zenith Device. If activated, it will incinerate the jungle for at least a one thousand kilometer radius. Killing all animal and plant life, and certainly destroying both Graak and Feron ships.
MENA: Petra, listen to me... the Doctor means well. He only wishes to help us. We can trust him... we MUST trust him... our lives could depend on it. I don't wish to defy you, but I believe in the Doctor. I'm sorry you feel that I'm about to betray you... I hope you know I could not do that lightly.
The role of Eye could be played by either a male or female voice actor, so we welcome auditions from either for this one:
Eye is a floating surveilance camera which can speak and move about independantly. A sort of robot eye. He or she has a lot of attitude, and has a mind of his/her own. Eye has traveled with the Doctor for a short time, and get's quite exasperrated with him, which often leads to arguments and disagreements. For a bot, Eye has a lot of spunky/snarky personality, which irritates the Doctor no end.
EYE: You're a stuffy old windbag! Do you know that, Doctor?! But I'm not letting you put me off this TIME! You have to admit, it would explain a few things.
EYE: Is the fun over? Did I miss it all again? Typical. I ALWAYS miss the fun!
EYE: So terribly sorry to inconvenience you, Doc! I'll just go fly into a bucket of hot grease, shall I?! That'd solve all your problems for you, wouldn't it?!
Male Roles Available:
Max - A starship captain who has found himself stranded on a distant planet. He's a bit rough around the edges. Tends to shoot first and ask questions after. A sort of rogue in the classic style of Han Solo.
MAX: I'm a friend, potentially! And at the moment, I'm the best friend you could have! Stand behind me while I blow these metal things to bits!
MAX: Look, Doctor, whoever you are, you've got to trust me! I may have just saved your life! I've seen killing machines before, you know!
Drake is a mysterious starship captain who is the bad guy of the piece. He's ruthless, heartless, cold, and cunning. The performance should be dark and chilling, not over the top.
DRAKE: Now... I am going to ask you some questions. And you, my friend... you are going to scream... and then you are going to answer my questions. <laughs menacingly>
DRAKE: Three Ferons, and... yes... an unidentified male. <angered> INTERFERENCE! Who is this outsider?! And what does he think he's doing interfering in my affairs?! Does no one understand that this little game is MINE, and that I WILL NOT TOLERATE INTERFERENCE?! BLAST IT! Someone is going to pay with their life!!
Lt. Bera is a typical soldier. He is simply there to take orders from Captain Drake. He fears his commanding officer, and tries to be obedient and straight laced.
BERA: <BERA’s fear is at full capacity as he tries to hold it together> I’m… I’m sorry, sir! We just simply don't have the information you want! The male destroyed the Roam-corder before I could GET that information! I'm... I'm sorry, sir!
Commander Stark is much like Lt. Bera in that he simply exists to serve his captain. He also fears Drake, but doesn't show it as easily as Bera. He attempts to carry himself with reserved control at all times.
STARK: I've detected the Feron patrol, Captain! The alien male has moved away from the Ferons, Sir. What shall I do next?
Lt. Kree is very much in Lt. Bera's shoes, as he is expected to be the perfect little soldier who simply takes orders. Like Bera he too fears Captain Drake. Like Com. Stark he tries to show less fear.
LT. KREE: I'm very sorry, Captain Drake, but... I have failed you, sir! I will try harder in future! I will not let you down as the others have!
General Gregor is the boasting, over-confident rival of Captain Drake. His purpose is simply to beat Drake at his own game.
GREGOR: It seems, while the master's away, his rivals will play... and simply move in and take over. <laughs mockingly> My battle group has moved in and... oh, look at that... we've surrounded your sad little battle cruiser! I've bested you, Drake... AGAIN! Now, deal with it! <laughs>
