Smile Greetings! And a question..

Greetings all,

Phil (Philtheus) from the UK here, about to make my first tentative step into the world of audio drama. Have been drawn in by listening to the likes of We're Alive, The Leviathan Chronicles and Star Trek: Section 31. Found this forum whilst looking for resources, and it's exactly what I'm looking for!

I have been putting together an idea for a long running drama, but am unsure as to how much I should write? For example, should I produce a 'pilot' first, and see what the reception is before developing the idea further?

Also, I see there is a 'Casting' section of the forum, but the posts do not seem to have many replies - are the people casting still getting plenty of audition pieces?

Thanks,
Phil

hi Phil, welcome! For your pilot question, I would say go for something you like and would enjoy and have fun with and not worry about getting a reception first. As long as you have fun with it that's all that matters, I think that's the most important thing.

As far as casting calls go, it can take a couple months to get together a cast depending on the size. And sometimes the people who audition email the producer directly without posting anything in the forum so you can't really tell by the threads how many people have auditioned. But I think that is the best way to get auditions.

Good luck with your show!
