Having Problems with your iTunes feed?

After a number of listeners alerted me to the fact that itunes had not updated the most recent Sonic Society episode (and with special gratitude to Michael Hudson and Dennis Humphries) we discovered that there's been an issue with the pinging at itunes itself.

Michael pointed out that a number of feeds have been affected. Please check it out if you haven't already and write in to ask itunes to help with this issue.

Yeah. I've written in about this. Last year this feature allowed me to troubleshoot a problem the Dr. Floyd feed was having. With it now gone (and only pinging your feed once every 24 hours) figuring out the problem would have been maddening.

I've written in and I hope others do as well.

Thank you for taking the time to contact Apple about improving iTunes. I understand you're requesting to have the feature reinstated. I strongly suggest that you also tell everyone you know to request this option be reinstated on the site so that this one would be possible.

Apple recognizes that no one is better qualified to provide feedback about iTunes than the people who use it.

It's a problem. I'm noticing various glitches in how iTunes reads the feed as well. For some reason on my last publish, the time code for the episode is missing! Odd.

The pinging thing hasn't been too bad for me so far. It seems to update faster now then when it had the opportunity to manually ping. That's just my experience, but I DO like the power to manually ping it to update.

Do you guys run your podcasts through an RSS cleaner like feedburner?
