Our 2007 live Halloween show, Tomes of Terror II, concludes its run on The Post-Meridian RadioPod. PMRPod #3 features our production of William Hope Hodgson's sea-bound thriller, The Stone Ship, from a script originally written for CBC's Nightfall series in 1980 by Len Peterson, one of Canada's foremost playwrights. This play was the most complex of the three we did for Halloween. It required three Foley/FX artists, featured quite a bit of digital ambience and incorporated real-time effects processing for some of the dialog. Together with musician Jessica Raine's combination of sea chanty variations and atonal accompaniment, the atmosphere for this play was really creepy! ---------------------- From the website: The Stone Ship - "Another adaptation from Nightfall, this one written by Len Peterson in 1980 and based on William Hope Hodgson's eerie 1914 sea-bound thriller. In 1887, the crew of the merchant windjammer Alfred Jessop, adrift for days and shrouded in an unnatural mist, stumble across the wreck of an impossible ship. Venturing aboard the derelict challenges the sanity of a stalwart British sea captain and his faithful crew." ---------------------- Join our Host, The Librarian, as stories from the ancient groaning stacks of The Library present themselves for your listening pleasure (or terror, depending on your point-of-view!). Recordings of PMRPod #3 are up on the new HOTU/PMRP website as both low-quality and Internet-quality MP3s @ http://www.huboftheuniverseproductions.com/rec_pmrpod03.html The next PMRPod will hopefully be up in a couple of weeks. We're currently editing our studio production of Red Shift: Interplanetary Do-Gooder in "Terror of Terra-Khan", the pilot serial of Rob Noyes' sci-fi comedy serial that premiered last year at Arisia. We'll keep everyone posted. That's all for now! -N |
