Default Great Summer fun (and an annoying fan observation)

Really.

Hey,

haven't been round these parts lately. Loved the Summer Showcase! I can't believe you did a Western! Last Summer I thought to myself that it was the only genre you hadn't done. I even thought I'd pitch one if you didn't do it yourself. What's next - a seafaring adventure? Maybe, but it wasn't as essential as doing a western. You nailed it!

Anyhow, I'm digging the Knightmare as well but I've got one small hiccup here.
And this might go for any of the other series, especially BJJ:

You never say "drugs." Criminals don't deal in drugs. At least not in radio days. They're into narcotics. Or as BJJ is more liely to say - "dope."

I guess one could point out that they never used to say, "Oh my God" on the radio either but I don't think the point is to be OTR-period-accurate. It's great to be unencumbered by old radio morality guidelines. But still - "drugs" isn't what you'd likely hear in the 30s and 40s - on the radio or off.

You're talking about "Tales of the Rodeo King" though, aren't you? That not my script, but it's also not really an attempt at an OTR style. You'd never allude to hippie satanist orgies either.

Ah, the good old days... You just don't hear enough good stories about hippie satanist orgies....

There is an OTR Show...Inspector Thorne, entitled "The Dark Ciggerette". As a former Orgiastic Hippie Satanist I found the description of the "Marijuana Cigarette" and it's affects rather humorous. He notices a fresh roach thrown down but no smell? for example.

I have heard the terms: Tator, Spliff, Joint, Roach, Fatty, Blunt...etc. But only on Radio do you hear the term "Marijuana Cigarette". Where they feigning ignorance or was it truly such a nieve time? Or, was it because of decency laws?

I also think it is funny how drug dealers/addicts are usually classified in one category, even in modern audio drama. But I guess when you are trying to make clear distinctions between good & evil it is hard to fill in the shades of grey. However, I would love to hear an accurate description of a crack house or a real crack head in some modern audio drama.... "Jonhy's bowel's emptied in anticipation of the high...." ha! Seriously, you could tell some interesting stories around the people it affects, the good, the evil, and the innocent.

Ha ha! That's true! I've heard the "marihuana cigarette" (and back then it would have been spelled with an H - even an ultra-realist like Chandler - who was probably familiar with it - spelled it with an H!) on some of my favorite programs.

Yes, I was referring to Mr. Bledsoe's (real name?) Rodeo King series, but I was referring specifically to the first one which come to think of it, since the second episode clearly sets it as a fictional OTR within their world, should probably have been more period-accurate than Red Panda or BJJ which are simply NTR set in the past. Wh. There I go again. Funny thing, though, as soon as the introduction to the second episode mentions the 1960s and a ranch I immediately thought "this is gonna go Manson."

edit:
Wh. Again. The drug reference was in the Knightmare, not in Blaze Bing. I didn't hear any anachronisms in Bing actually. Well done!
