[Big Finish Doctor Who] How'd Charlie Pollard get teamed up with the 6th Doctor

I've been a big fan of Big Finish's 8th doctor series--not the one they do for BBC7, but their monthly subscription series with India Fischer starring as Charlie Pollard. I fell behind on following these productions sometime last year. Yesterday, however, I visited the Big Finish site and read the synopses for recent episodes and I see that Charlie is now a companion of the 6th Doctor.

What happened!? Is anyone else following this series? Are the recent episodes worth following? I rather liked the 8th Doctor/Charlie duo.

In a nutshell Charlie ends up abandoned in the far distant future without the Doctor and has to build a crystal radio to send an SOS, and is surprised when the TARDIS turns up with the 6th Doctor in it and off they go

And although very different from her relationship with the 8th Doctor I think they work great together
