Talking Update from Bill's Mixing Desk

Just finished reading an early script of something Paul has just written- and dang is it COOL!

(All I can say at this oint as Paul woiuld gut me where I stand/type if I let go any spoilers...LOL)

As for what I am currently Mixing:

Beneath the Planet of the Apes episode # 5 is in the Can.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes episode # 6, I have about the first 16 minutes complete (mixed) and should have the next scene done tomorrow- still about 10 pages left or so in the script- the cast in this is BRILLIANT!!!

After I get ep6 BPOTA complete I am gonna switch mixing lanes for a bit and get rolling on a new ep of The Saga of the Grog and Gryphon (Hopefully late next week unless BPOTA ep6 takes a bit longer) So looking fwd to getting back to my fantasy world for a bit after hanging with the Simians for the past month or 2.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes should start releasing agin in March (so I can have the time get one more in the can-and try and keep it to a schedule, fingers crossed.)

Lines are rolling in on Planet of the Apes U.K. Stage Show play (our Audio Drama Version) as well and that will roll into production later this year (summer I am thinking)

Plus a few more surprises are rolling around behind the scenes (as far as other BrokenSea projects I am mixing) and I will hollar once I have some more concrete details.

And as Always the Swag Cast moves ever forward as the Audio Gold from Radio Yesteryear continues to be unearthed and I continue to be astounded by the brilliant Shows!

Thanks all for listening, and reading my meandering messages-LOL

~Bill

Heh. I've just started that whole 4am-5:45/6am thing myself in order to get stuff done. I'm only commiting to 3 days a week though... I'm not as hardcore as you Bill

Question for you regarding your Planet of the Apes series... I was never a big Planet of the Apes fan (Roddy McDowell was cool and all but...). What do you feel you bring to the concept that the movies hadn't? Is there something about BrokenSea's version that would 'sell' it to someone who only casually liked the movies?

Thanks for asking Lothar!

First: I love my Simian movies <imagine that-LOL>- and I always wanted to hear them in the car-which is how this all started. Some friends of mine worried about the visual nature of POTA and it in AD, but I said dang the torpedos full speed ahead and have just had a ball finding a new way to present these simian epics I adore.

Then once I got into it- there were some continuity errors with all 5 movies I wanted to tackle-without changing the movies-but via extra scenes. Plus I had some ideas that were hinted at at best-or not mentioned-- on things going on behind the scenes in Ape City with otuther characters etc...AND-I always wanted to have the Astronauts from Boulles Book in as well <which I then worked into the expansive backstory I have created>, so lots of stuff beyond the movies going on-in fact tons- and trying to wrangle them altogether without disturbing what was seen on the big screen has been ablast <and a nightmare at times figuring it all out> LOL

That said- all the cannon stuff from the movies is there and unchanged <except for minor tweaks to fit the AD medium> AND... The POTA Yahoo kindly allowed me to use their Lessons from the Lawgiver as a parable-like intro of Zen-Buddist styled Simian learning as well as inner core beliefs of the Apes and some short ape history from the Lawgiver himself <about a minute or 2> open each ep. And fleshes out the universe.

I also approached it as if I were making the original movies, had all 5 scripts in hand- and planned to make all 5, but had some fun introducing the other movies via flashbacks and flash forwards etc..

And I also wanted to explore how Dr. Milo got Taylor's ship working to get Zira and Cornelius to the Movie Escape POTA.

So more or less- it's my NPR Star Wars kinda gig but for Simians.
