Default The Gearheart

Anybody else like "The Gearheart" as much as me?
This was my first introduction into steampunk. I am hoping there is more like it.

I also like the Gearheart a lot! However, I think there are a couple of problems with it.. I find the narration to be rather slow.. or perhaps ..too even is what I mean. I would have thought there would have been more ..excitement.. during a shooting scene. I also thought that occasionally the music volume appears louder than the narration so that I have to pick the narration out of the music.

Granted, these are mild points, and I do find the story LOTS of fun. It seems like there is a LOT of backstory to Gearheart. I first listened to your new segments, and then went back and I'm about at ep 8 of The Gearheart. Some of this stuff like his relationship to Cog, will be revealed more as we go on but its rather opaque to start out.

David, I couldn't agree with you more. Those first couple of episodes are an embarrassment to the rest of the series, and I want to redo them one day. You're certainly not the first person to tell me that. Later on, I think you'll find that the narration picks up. I don't have a natural gift for dramatic narration, and it was something I had to learn through time, practice, and most importantly, valuable listener comments like yours.

As for the backstory, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. You don't need to understand much of it to follow the plot, but at the same time, there's a lot there for those who want to dive in and really take in the whole picture. I wouldn't be surprised if you picked something new up every time you listened. In fact, that's my hope

If, by the end of the series, you feel my reading is still bad, I encourage you to contact me at alex@thegearheart.com. I want to make the best products I can, and I'll strive to give you my all. Thanks so much for taking the time to listen!
